Kawasaki GPZ 750
Kawasaki GPZ 750 is one of those models which are no longer under manufacturing. It however is quite fascinating to witness several such models running on the road which implies the fact that this model is still as popular as it was in past. But, you can find most of those models which were produced in second year of manufacturing.
Actually, Kawasaki GPZ 750 was introduced in 1982 but it gone through some major changes in 1983. Basically, the model GPZ 750 was originally inspired by KZ750, the fastest machine of 1981 but several changes were made to transform into a better looking bike. When Kawasaki GPZ 750 underwent some changes in 1983, it became more sophisticated with the inclusion of new cams, carbs and mufflers. Also, there were substantial changes in engine and combustion chamber, in particular. Moreover, there was some enhancement in power as the initial model was with 80 hp at 9500 RPM whereas the next model was with 92 hp 67.2 KW / 9000 rpm.
Apart from these internal changes, few modifications were also there for brakes, suspension, wheels and bodywork. Suspension, in 1982, was dual shock but these bikes came with uni-trac rear suspension and aluminum swingram. In terms of bodywork, the new design got mixed reactions of riders. The initial model of this bike was adorned with bikini style headlights. But, in next year, half-faired version was introduced which was liked by many.
Though there were changes in the following model of Kawasaki GPZ 750, but, several things were still the same, like transmission 5-speed, starter electric, displacement 738cc, etc. Dry weight, however, was changed in the second model which actually had an impact on its handling and speed as well. In 1982, the dry weight of Kawasaki GPZ 750 was 217kg which was increased 1983 to 228 kg.
So, you can see that there were substantial changes in second year of manufacture but things didn’t stop here as the fourth year of manufacture brought some further changes which were quite close to the turbo version, Kawasaki GPZ 750 Turbo.
