Kawasaki KR 250

KR 250 was introduced in Japan in 1983. This bike, however, was not included in the model lineup of Kawasaki UK. But, this bike was imported to UK later on. The existence of a small niche market for this bike compelled dealers to get this bike to UK. Though it was a nice step but the main problem was pertaining to price.

Price factor has always been associated with bikes. Same thing can be seen with Kawasaki KR 250. People were so reluctant to pay a high price for this small bike with the capacity of 249 and there was a large majority of people who opted for new GPZ instead of buying KR 250. Although the company did introduced a newer model for KR 250 with KVSS powervalve system but it still wasn’t been able to create a huge impact on riders in its early days.

Things started to change gradually and people understood the capabilities of this bike. It is because of that awareness that you can still find people looking for a second hand Kawasaki KR 250.

Actually, this bike has all those attributes which should be there to make a bike rider’s favorite bike. In fact, its features enable it to come closer to a grand prix bike which has always been liked by people. But, it is essential to keep in mind that though this bike has an engine configuration similar to grand prix racer but it still doesn’t share any common component with a racer bike.

This bike has liquid cooled, parallel twin cylinder, two stroke engine with 56.0 x 50.6 mm of Bore x Stroke. This bike can generate the power 45 hp at the rate of 10000 rpm with a torque of 3.7 kg-m @ 8000 rpm. Even with a dry weight of 133 kg it can go up to the 112 mp/h mark.

So, specifications are fairly good along with the engine which is the reason why this bike is still popular amongst the riders. Also, because of its quick but stable steering, handling becomes much easier which is another reason of its popularity.
